Club Updates: Class Schedule, Grading and Tournament Information

Good Morning Everyone,

We hope everyone is well.  Here is an update on the latest happenings at the club:

  • Grading for Novice (White to Yellow Stripe) and Intermediate (Orange to Green) will held at all regularly scheduled club locations March 8 – 11, 2016.
  • Janet Lee classes have ended for 2016.  Janet Lee participants may attend any other class location.  Please visit https://jrskarateclub.com/classes/class-schedule/ for the latest class schedule.
  • Invitational Tournament will be held on May 14th, 2016
Location: Binbrook Memorial Hall
Time: 10:00 am
Note: Pre-registration is due May 7, 2016.  Note: full equipment & uniform for the tournament is mandatory

Self Defense Workshop on March 27, 2015

These 1 hour FREE workshop provides common sense and practical information regarding self defense.  Learn physical techniques for defending potentially violent encounters. Participants will also practice basic self-defense skills to help ward off an attack. The workshop is being offered to family and friends of current students.  It is interactive and fun while open to both women and men for no cost to you.  Canned goods will be accepted as donations to the local food bank.

Self-defense Workshops are scheduled on:
  • Friday, March 27th, 8:30 to 9:30 pm at Studio D in Stoney Creek
  • Tuesday, March 31st at 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Binbrook Memorial Hall
Those who are interested in participating should wear comfortable clothing such as jogging pants and a t-shirt.

Dance and Karate Demonstration at 515 Arvin Ave Location December 12, 2014

J.R.’s Karate Club together with Lois Laxton Dance Studio would like to invite you, your friends and your family to a free Karate and Dance demonstration at the new Arvin Avenue dojo location.   The demonstration will consist of students from J.R.’s Karate Club providing a karate demonstration to the the Laxton Dance students and the Laxton Dance students providing a dance demonstration to the karate students.  The purpose of this demonstration is to encourage physical activity and all students will participate in both demonstrations. There is no charge for this event.

Friday, December 12, 2014 between 7:00 – 9:00 PM.

Sherwood Park Dojo is Moving!

Starting January 2015, J.R.’s Karate Club Sherwood Park Dojo has a new home!

Sherwood Park Dojo classes are moving to:

515 Arvin Avenue, Studio D

Stoney Creek, ON L8E 2N1

The last class at Sherwood Park Dojo will be held on December 19, 2014.

Arvin Avenue classes (formerly Sherwood Park classes) will begin at the new location on January 6, 2015 @ 6:30 – 7:30 PM.

Arvin Avenue 2015 Class Schedule:
Monday night is 5:00 to 6:00 pm
Wednesday is    6:30 to 7:30 pm
Friday Advance  8:30 to 9:30 pm

All other class locations and schedule remain unchanged.

J.R.’s Karate Club will be on holidays from December 22, 2014 to January 5, 2015.  No classes will be held during this time.  Classes resume January 6, 2015.

Grading

Grading will be held a week after the tournament.  Just a reminder that participation in the open tournament is one of the requirements for grading.

Grading will take place at the following classes:

  • June 17th for Binbrook during classes
  • June 18th for Sherwood during classes
  • June 19 for Valley Park during classes
  • June 21st, Saturday, 10:00 am for the Advance students.  Please confirm you attendance by completing the form on our website or by calling Lou at 905-387-2895.

 

 

Please bring cash or a cheque for grading. call Lou if you don’t know the cost of your grading.

Reminder: 24th Annual Open J.R.’s Karate Club Championship Tournament

Hi Everyone,

The 24th Annual Open J.R.’s Karate Club Championship Tournament is this Saturday,June 7, 2014.  Please ensure that you come with completed registration forms.

A friendly reminder that participation in the open tournament is one of the requirements for grading.
